Let’s do it again! March 10 is another opportunity to say NO to new pipelines
Last week, along with our allies, we packed the hearing room and overflow room at the Department of Public Utilities. As part of three hours of testimony, three Mothers Out Front moms spoke in opposition to Eversource’s bid to make its electricity customers fund the Access Northeast fracked gas pipeline.
Now it’s National Grid’s turn. Next Thursday, March 10, they’ll be asking the Department of Public Utilities to make its electricity customers fund not only Spectra’s Access Northeast project, but also Kinder Morgan’s even larger pipeline project across northern Massachusetts.
Not only are these huge pipeline projects bad for our climate, but they will also cause economic hardship in low-income communities as well as health problems for our most vulnerable populations: children, elders, and those already impacted by other toxic industrial projects.
Here are the details for the Rally & Hearing:
If the utilities and Governor Baker can’t shift the cost to us—the ratepayers—the pipelines may never be built.
It would be great to have at least 2 mothers testifying at this hearing! Please contact Susan Lees at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
Our friends at 350Mass are organizing the rally. Here are their talking points and information for the hearing:
