MA - Sign the petition to PASS Councilor O’Malley’s proposed Gas Leaks Ordinance!

There are more than 3,000 natural gas leaks in the greater Boston area and almost 20,000 statewide!

Gas leaks pose an environmental, public health and financial burden to Boston residents. Natural gas is 95% methane which is 86 times more harmful than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas over the first 20 years, and is responsible for the death of trees and shrubbery in Boston’s public spaces. According to the National Institutes of Health, exposure to natural gas leaks can exacerbate asthma and other respiratory illnesses. As ratepayers, we are subsidizing nearly $90 million per year for the gas leaking from our old pipes, enough to heat 200,000 homes each year.

Sign the petition and join us on December 10th!
