Beth Shipp
Executive Director
Beth Shipp is a political strategist with more than two decades of experience in building and leading campaigns, programs, and organizations for progressive candidates and social justice causes. Most recently, Beth served as the Managing Director for Caring Across Generations, a campaign working to change how care is given, valued, and received in our country. She focused her efforts on building and leading a team working to improve our nation’s care infrastructure and the lives of people most impacted by it – primarily women, people of color, and immigrants – so that we can all not just survive but thrive.
Beth’s work has included leading teams and programs in an interim capacity while senior-level leaders take the time they need to welcome new family members, take care of themselves, or care for a loved one while taking paid family and medical leave. She served as the interim campaigns director for PL+US (Paid Leave for the U.S.) and previously served as an interim vice president and as a senior advisor to the CEO for Faith in Public Life.
Beth joined MoveOn as the Down Ballot Regional Director for the South and East in the 2018 midterms. She led the member-driven endorsement process that resulted in 44 endorsements of candidates running for office at all levels of state and local government – from school board to governor. Of the 44 endorsed candidates in the South and East region, 73% were people of color, 64% were women, and 16% self-identified as LGBTQ.
Prior to MoveOn, Beth was the first Executive Director of LPAC, a political action committee dedicated to building the political power of LGBTQ women. In 2016, she was responsible for creating the most diverse endorsed candidate slate in the PAC’s history resulting in 78% of the slate being women; 45% self-identified LGBTQ candidates; and 38% candidates of color. Her work LPAC spanned candidates, political and allied organizations, LGBTQ coalition partners, and women’s organizations.
Beth is a strong believer in living her values and has dedicated her career to lifting up and serving marginalized constituencies that are often discounted, undervalued and overlooked in our political and societal institutions. Equity, inclusion, and the representation of communities most impacted by our political system have been at the heart of her leadership.
She received her Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia and her Project Management Certificate from Georgetown University. She is a PMI-certified Project Management Professional.
