Alycia Bacon
New York Community Organizer
Born in Phoenix and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Alycia Bacon moved to the Capital Region at the age of 21 with nothing more than a one-way plane ticket, 2 bags of luggage, and her guitar. A few years later she graduated from UAlbany with her Bachelor’s in philosophy and theatre, and a Master’s in Africana Studies with a focus on history and philosophy. She credits her scholarly pursuits and religious upbringing as being the reason why she joined the fight against climate change. Additionally, her studies of African American history, deep pride of her African heritage, and gratitude for her ancestors have led her to fight for civil rights and justice- a viewpoint she extends to other forms of life in addition to humans. Advocacy and activism are very personal for Alycia, it’s an act of love for her community, friends and family, and God as she conceives IT. Currently, Alycia is the NY Organizer of the Capital Region at Mothers Out Front. She’s grateful to be a part of such an inspiring group of leaders and working for an intentional organization leading the way in healthy work environments (the company recently started its own union for employees). In her free time, Alycia enjoys making art and writing as well as martial arts. She is a published author and photographer. She is also a “Bunny Momma” to Anarchy Bunny.
