Anya Deepak believes that women and the environment are inextricably linked and neither can thrive without the other. Anya has an MBA in HR and Marketing and over 16 years of experience working at the nexus of behavior change and gender issues. She has worked on various projects in rural India including healthy cook stove initiatives, micro financing for women and postnatal care programs.
Currently, Anya manages executive projects in the Office of the Director at the San Francisco Department of the Environment. In her previous role, she ran the Healthy Nail Salon Recognition program to provide salon workers education and training about safer practices. She is the President of the San Francisco Bay Area Women’s Environmental Network. From the villages of India to the neighborhoods in San Francisco, mothers are the first defenders of their children’s futures. Anya feels that enabling mothers to organize with and around their children can pave the way for a more resilient community and a more sustainable future for all.
