What is the moment that you decided to work towards climate justice?
I saw an Inconvenient Trust in the fall of 2006. I remember standing outside the theater afterwards and looking around and wondering how business as usual could continue given the enormity of the threat posed by the climate crisis. I decided to find others in my community to do something about the problem. Our local citizen group, Somerville Climate Action, organized Step It Up to call on Congress to act and we worked with businesses, the city, and residents to decrease their carbon-footprint for the next few years, making Somerville one of the most climate friendly cities in the Commonwealth of MA.
What are the strengths that you bring to movement building?
A fierce passion for helping moms embrace the agency they have individually and together to create the change they want. A willingness to learn and unwillingness to give up. Working with teams to make things happen.
When you were a kid, what was your favorite movie?
Singing in the Rain
