Mothers Out Front Massachusetts Holds Its State Assembly

Annual Massachusetts State Assembly

Massachusetts held a virtual State Assembly on Saturday, March 6th, 2021. The event was attended by 137 members representing our 21 local community chapters.

Guest speaker, Ana Babović, grassroots organizer and founder of Serbia on the Move, inspired participants with stories from her years of organizing mothers and others for transformational social change in Serbia. Cambridge member, Hannah Mahoney, shared the story of how she was inspired by her daughter to join Mothers Out Front in order to support and defend the world.

The State Assembly was the culmination of a months-long democratic campaign selection process. Member-leaders voted to select a new statewide campaign, Clean Heat, Clean Air. Two action groups – Healthy Soils, Livable Future & Corporate Responsibility – were approved by the assembly, and 23 new leaders were elected to the Massachusetts Leadership Team for two-year terms.

The Massachusetts chapter reflected on all that local chapters and state teams were able to accomplish, despite setbacks and roadblocks cause by the pandemic. We celebrated the resilience of our movement and enjoyed a performance from our statewide musical group, Music Out Front, who performed their original song, “Mother Power.” We left with shared purpose and motivation to continue building our movement of mothers and  others to ensure a livable climate and just world.
