MA: Rally Against the DPU

MA: Rally Against the DPU

Date: December 10, 2022
Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm ET
Location: Dewey Square , Atlantic Avenue (across from South Station) , Boston , Massachusetts, 02110

Mothers Out Front is co-sponsoring a rally and march led by the Climate Courage Working Group of 350 MA.

The rally is to protest the actions of the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU). The DPU regulates the private utilities in MA, such as Eversource and National Grid. It is managed by 3 Commissioners appointed by the Governor.   This DPU has protected the gas industry and slow walked renewable power.

When Governor Baker steps down in January, Governor Healey will appoint two of the 3 commissioners.

The rally is also to send a message to Governor- Elect Maura Healey: Please appoint DPU Commissioners that put the public and climate first, not the utilities’ interest.

Rally goers will carry 40 large wind turbines around the South Station intersection which has large crosswalks and wide sidewalks. People coming to the event are encouraged to bring signs.

Our goal is to create a continuous presence around the entire, heavily used area.
