Mothers Out Front partnered with EnergySage to share how you can access the latest IRA rebates

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is a landmark federal law that authorizes $369 billion in spending towards clean energy and climate action. Signed into law by the Biden Administration, it is the largest investment in climate in United States history. It is aimed at confronting the existential threat of the climate crisis. On July 27, 2023, the US Department of Energy (DOE) announced guidelines for states, territories, and the District of Columbia to apply for their share of $8.5 billion in electrification and energy efficiency rebates provided by the IRA.

Mothers Out Front sprung to action to ensure its constituents had the most up-to-date information necessary to make their home energy upgrades more affordable and ensure communities have access to cost-effective, clean electricity. Mother Out Front teamed up with EnergySage, a marketplace that empowers people everywhere to switch to affordable, reliable clean energy solutions with trusted resources, unbiased advice, and a simple shopping experience, to provide information and answer questions on the recent Home Energy Rebate programs created by the IRA.

Folks passionate about clean energy and Mothers Out Front’s climate goals gathered from across the nation, including California, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York and Virginia, for an exclusive webinar to hear from Kim Berkowitz of EnergySage.

Kim shared the history of the IRA, it being part of the Build Back Better Act in 2021 and a companion of the Jobs Act. She shared key takeaways from its latest updates, such as how batteries are included for the first time ever.

Key takeaways from the IRA. 4 bullet points covering various tax credits

Kim explained the ways in which the IRA could provide major incentives for homeowners using home solar and batteries, energy efficiency, electrical upgrades, heating and cooling and electrical vehicles. With the IRA’s latest updates, as of 2023, you can earn up to $1,200 in annual tax credits (covering up to 30% of total costs):

  • $600 for air sealing
  • $150 for home energy audit
  • $600 for electrical upgrades

Kim provided a breakdown for every incentive here. She then shared clear next steps on how families and individuals can begin this journey into installing and upgrading their clean energy tools. There are five steps to solar installation: 1. Research, 2. Quotes, 3. Review, 4. Select, 5. Install. While this may seem complex, expensive and intimidating, EnergySage is available as the simplest, most trusted way to make confident energy decisions and to gain control over the buying process.

EnergySage connects you with vetted, local installers and providers who compete to earn your business. They help you easily and confidently switch to high-quality clean energy and energy-saving solutions by providing access to transparent information, unbiased advice, and a best-in-class shopping experience.
