What is the moment that you decided to work towards climate justice?
A few years ago I joined our local Labor-Climate Justice coalition because I was inspired by climate justice activists in San Diego who were raising the issue of asthma caused by air pollution in low-income neighborhoods. Understanding the connections between race, class, and the environment is what brought me into the movement.
What are the strengths that you bring to movement building?
I bring passion to the movement based on my personal experiences as a feminist, as a union and community activist, and as an organizer. I also bring strategic planning, an interest in data, and a creative perspective to movement building.
When you were a kid, what was your favorite book?
I loved to read, everything from Great Expectations, Little Women, and Black Beauty to the Goosebumps and Babysitter’s Club book series’.
